Toyota 86 Carbon Fiber Hoods
The photo above is a photo of a Toyota 86 vented style carbon fiber hood taken during the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon. The Toyota 86 will have both OEM and vented styles of carbon fiber hoods available. The OEM style carbon hood will be designed using the stock hood but made of a lighter weight material that is less heat conductive than the metal hood. Carbon fiber hoods have become an industry trend because of the performance factors as well as the styling, giving the vehicle a sportier look that is found on track cars as well as high end vehicles such as the BMW M3.
The Toyota 86 will also have several vented styles available for high performance street or track use. A vented hood is designed with scoops or vents that are open and designed to allow cooler air into the engine bay or help release hot air. We expect to see several stylish designs available from industry leading carbon fiber manufacturers including VIS Racing and Seibon.
