Scion FRS Carbon Fiber Hoods
The photo above is a closeup of a Scion FRS OEM style carbon fiber hood. The Scion FRS will have both OEM and vented styles of carbon fiber hoods available. The OEM style carbon hood will be designed using the stock hood but made of a lighter weight material that is less heat conductive than the metal hood. Carbon fiber hoods have become an industry trend because of the performance factors as well as the styling, giving the vehicle a sportier look that is found on track cars as well as high end vehicles such as the BMW M3.
Scion FRS Vented Carbon Fiber Hoods
The Scion FRS will also have several vented styles available for high performance street or track use. A vented hood is designed with scoops or vents that are open and designed to allow cooler air into the engine bay or help release hot air. We expect to see several stylish designs available from industry leading carbon fiber manufacturers including VIS Racing and Seibon. Carbon fiber hoods typically come pre-finished with a gloss clear coat as shown in the above photos that protect the carbon and give the vehicle a show quality look. The photo above shows a vented carbon fiber hood for the Scion TC TS style carbon fiber hood that has heat extraction vents that remove hot air from the engine bay.
As this car becomes more widely available to aftermarket manufacturers such as VIS Racing and Seibon, you will see many new styles of Scion FRS carbon fiber hoods become available for the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas.
